Why being a Community Manager is the best job in the world?
Started to think about this yesterday. And, just driven by passion, here are some of the reasons.
Every day we are challenged to think. Think about how we can add value to both the business and community members.
We are challenged to think about how we can go beyond the simple: just because.
Events. Programs. Courses. Content.
It all starts with a purpose. And the solution is: not to stop.
And being a community manager isn't just about "dealing" with people on different platforms like slack or discord.
Interesting to think that, as human beings, we will be part of a group to feel more individual. This is our identity.
In addition, we have the privilege of creating a true win-win-win cycle:
we think of a strategy/action plan to contribute to the growth and learning of our members.
Consequently, we not only learn from them but also have in some of them (future) community leaders.
To close this cycle, our business will also win with all the feedback, word-of-mouth, acquisition, and retention.
Then, have you thought about the impact that this position can have on a business?
Innovation;
Support;
Feedback;
Product;
Internal and external culture.
We already have five keywords. Give me a high-five!
Want more?
Marketing. Engagement. And I could go on.
And how do we evaluate our success?
No, it's not with vanity metrics.
For a community manager, metrics are not "just" numbers.
It's something that goes beyond the number of likes, comments, or the number of followers.
All this is because, if members "come to us" for the content, we work and are challenged every day so that they stay for the community.
My mission, driven by passion, is to be the best version of a community manager I can be. To help fellow community builders with their journey and sports, fitness and wellness brands with their communities.
And you, fellow community padawan, what’s your mission?
That’s it for this week’s Connect Dots. Thanks so much for being part of this journey…connecting dots!

This made me think of my mission as well. I clicked on this article from LinkedIn having been a reader of some of your posts.
Here's how I stated my mission; "Build great communities with purposeful brands who treat community as the core of their business."
I relly love to build relationships with amazing people even before venturing int community building and I'm at the same time keen on seeing diverse brands across Africa put community at the centre of their business. This moved me to start my nesletter and also a team focused on helping African startups.
(just thought I should share my mission as well...lol)
