🔵 #7: Community at the core of businesses success
Episode 3 of the ConnectDots Podcast, this time, with one of the most well known experts on the industry, Brian Oblinger.
“Brian, tell me what what metrics can I use to measure the success of my community?” (For sure, 5 seconds later you will get the best answer possible). This might sound “Siri for Community Building”, but no, Brian is human, 20 years of experience on building and managing communities and a very inspiring and passionate person.
To avoid internet problems, Brian spoke from his basement and despite not having his camera on, I am sure that when he talks about communities, his eyes must shine, such is his passion for this area.
👏 Community Padawans, a big round of applause to…Brian Oblinger (I would bet that everyone that pronounces his surname for the first time, says it incorrectly. I did it - “Sorry Brian”)
Brian is currently a host in one of the most well-known podcasts in the industry, along with Erica Kuhl, In Before the Lock and a community consultant, helping companies increase customer loyalty, reduce costs and creating unique and engaging social community experiences.
On his curriculum, Brian helped already companies such as Playstation, Sephora, HP, Warner Bros. Games and ebay.
He is all about community, it is “the only thing he knows” and his experience allows him to be the “jetpack” that accelarates any community strategy, leading to more engaged members, increase customer acquisiton rates, reduce costs and create a movement of passionate customers.
Very easy to have a conversation with Brian. From many topics, we talked about community becoming a trend, what is the mission of community managers to clarify the potential of building a community, what it takes to be a community manager and about some of the pain points that spark the need of creating a community in a company.
Either you are starting your carrer as a community manager, planning to build a community or need help to engage your members, Brian is, with no doubts, the person to speak with.
